Why wouldn't I just hire a full-time sound engineer/music producer?
Excellent question! To begin with, the expense of hiring a full-time senior-level sound & music professional costs more than $100,000 annually, along with benefits (and it's challenging to find available candidates). Additionally, you might not consistently have sufficient tasks to keep them occupied, leading to paying for unutilized time.
With the monthly plan, you have the flexibility to pause and resume your subscription as needed, ensuring you only pay for the sound professional's services when you have work ready for them.
Are there any restrictions on the number of requests I can make?
After subscribing, you can add as many requests as you want to your queue, and they'll be delivered one by one.
What is the expected turnaround time for receiving my requests?
The majority of requests are completed within two days or less on average, though more complex ones may take longer.
How can I pause my subscription?
We recognize that you might not have a continuous flow of sound/music work throughout the entire month. You could have just one or two requests at the moment. In such cases, pausing your subscription becomes a useful option.
Our billing cycles are structured on a 31-day period. So, let's say you sign up and actively use the service for 16 days before deciding to pause your subscription. This means the billing cycle will also be paused, leaving you with 15 days of service remaining, which you can utilize anytime in the future. *Currently, this is only available for the monthly plan and can be available for other plans upon request.
What software programs and audio hardware do you use?
The main DAWs of choice are Bitwig, Pro Tools, Ableton Live & Logic Pro. Each of these workstations has its own strengths and is used based on the specifics of the projects. The list of audio plugins is incredibly extensive and includes plugins manufactured by companies like Universal Audio, Oeksound, Fabfilter, Acustica Audio, Audio Ease, and many more.
For our audio monitoring, we entrust ATC, Neumann, Beyerdynamic & Sennheiser. GIK is the company of choice for acoustic treatment. For computer interfacing, we use Antelope Audio, a custom DAC, and Heritage Audio. For recording, we work with gear from DPA, Sound Devices, Neumann, Roswell Pro Audio & Sennheiser. Our music production tools include gear from companies like Roli, Oberheim, Native Instruments, Soma & many more.
For any gear that might be needed for more complex projects (e.g., recording an orchestra), renting professional cinema or music gear is available upon request from our partners.
Who are the sound engineers/music producers?
You might find it surprising, but Sound Alchemist operates as a one-person company. This means you'll be directly collaborating with me, the founder of Sound Alchemist. Nevertheless, for power-ups requests like recording an orchestra or hiring a professional instrumentalist, we rely on partners to provide those services.
How do I make requests?
Sound Alchemist offers extensive flexibility when it comes to requesting sound/music work through a kanban taskboard. Clients have multiple options to describe in detail their requests, sharing Google docs or wireframes, and even providing brief Loom videos. Essentially, any content that can be linked to or shared (direct upload in the platform is available) is welcome and considered a valid way to submit your request.
What if I don't like the delivered work?
No need to worry! We'll keep revising the task until you're completely satisfied, guaranteed.
What if I have only one request?
No problem at all! You can pause your subscription once your request is completed and then resume it whenever you have more sound/music work needs. There's no need to let any remaining subscription time go to waste.
Is there a refund policy if I'm not satisfied with the service?
Due to the high-quality nature of the work, no refunds will be issued.
